What you'll send
What to send for your review.
Your report arrives within 7 to 10 days of your files arriving. Here's exactly what to send, and what never to send.
Reading this before you buy? Good. Nothing here needs a login to your network or a call. When you're ready, pick a review.
Where to send it
Reply to your Stripe receipt email with your files attached. Keep the subject line as it is, it has your receipt number. Screenshots and text files are fine. Keep it under 25 MB, or send a shared folder link.
Never send these
- Passwords, Wi-Fi keys, VPN private keys, pre-shared keys, or SNMP community strings.
- A UniFi backup file (.unf). It contains your whole config, including secrets. Screenshots are enough.
- Remote access to your gear. I don't log in to customer networks.
Everyone sends these
- A short note (5 lines is plenty): what the business does, roughly how many people and devices, what must never go down, and what you're about to change or what's bothering you.
- A simple diagram. A photo of a hand drawing is fine. Show your internet connections, the gateway, switches, access points, VLANs, and any other sites.
Then, by platform
UniFi (screenshots)
Full-page screenshots, browser zoom at 80% helps. Masked fields stay masked, don't click the eye icons.
- The topology map.
- Settings > Internet: each WAN, and the failover or load-balance settings.
- Settings > Networks: the list, then each network's page (VLAN ID, subnet, DHCP, isolation or zone).
- Settings > WiFi: the list, then each network's security and which network it's on.
- Firewall and security: the zone matrix and every custom policy (or your rule lists on older versions).
- Settings > VPN: servers, clients, site-to-site.
- Port Manager: the uplink and trunk ports on each switch.
- UniFi Devices: models and firmware versions.
Before sending, crop out your public IP address if it shows.
Cisco IOS or IOS-XE (text)
Run these and save the output to a text file. Skip the ones that don't apply.
show version | include Software|uptime|bytes of memory show running-config show ip interface brief show ip route show interfaces trunk show vlan brief show track show ip sla summary
Then sanitize: search for password, secret, key, community, and username. On every line you find, replace the value after the keyword with REMOVED. Keep the line itself, it tells me the setting exists. Replace your public IPs with PUBLIC-IP-1, PUBLIC-IP-2, and so on, consistently.
MikroTik RouterOS (text)
RouterOS 7: run /export file=review (version 7 hides passwords and keys by default). RouterOS 6: run /export hide-sensitive file=review. Download review.rsc from Files, and send the output of /system resource print. Replace public IPs as above.
Ubiquiti EdgeRouter (text)
Run show configuration commands and save it. Remove the values on lines containing encrypted-password, plaintext-password, pre-shared-secret, private-key, and community. Replace public IPs as above.
GL.iNet or OpenWrt
Screenshots of each admin-panel section you want reviewed, like the UniFi list. Or, over SSH, uci export saved to a text file, with the values removed on lines containing key, private_key, preshared_key, and password.
What happens next
- Within 2 days I confirm your files are enough and your network fits the tier you bought. If it's bigger, you can upgrade or get a full refund.
- You get a PDF report: the risks ranked by how far each one could spread, the exact changes in order, a test for each, and a rollback note.
- You get one round of written follow-up questions within 14 days. Then the review is closed.
You make the changes, after a config backup, ideally in a maintenance window. I don't access your network, and there's no ongoing support after the follow-up round. Full terms: here.
